Nursing Fawn - Wildlife at Its Finest

Just before noon on this overcast and dreary day I looked out our second story bedroom window and saw a fawn with its mother at the edge of the woods on our property.

A quick trip downstairs to retrieve the camera with the 300mm already attached and upstairs again was rewarded with a capture of the fawn nursing in plain view of my perch.  Definitely not what I expected but what a great sight.

Later in the day Mindy saw the same pair in a repeat performance but they quickly broke up.  Fortunately, I already had my shots.  I know these are very close to being the same photo but each is a little different and tell a great story if you look close.

I especially like momma licking the fawns back as she nurses.  Hope you enjoy.

  1. I totally enjoyed these, and love that you captured the moments on camera!

    1. Thank you, hon. Then you forgive me for not alerting you to what was going on outside because I was in a hurry and didn't want to spoil the moment? : )

  2. Thankfully I was able to view it from the lower level.....
